THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE
Eighth Annual Drive...A Success!
November 2008 -
Nearly 200 volunteers from across the state participated in Josh Heupel's The # 14 Foundation Thanksgiving Food Drive held on November 1, 2008. The food drive collected over $30,000 and provided about 34,000 meals for families throughout the state of Oklahoma.
The Food Drive's success is a result of a long-standing partnership with the University of Oklahoma, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Regional Food Bank. The volunteer effort was the greatest in the eight years since the Thanksgiving Food Drive's inception and included students, faculty and administrators from Norman North High School, Norman High School, Moore Norman Technology Center, University of Oklahoma, FCA, Community Action Ministries (CAM), Norman Public Schools, Western Heights School District as well as other individuals and groups from across the state.
In partnership with U.S. Foods, The #14 Foundation provided over 5,000 meals for children throughout Oklahoma this past summer.
The #14 Foundation Thanksgiving Food Drive Program Outline:
- FAMILIES: Target families-in-need in Oklahoma
- GIVE FOOD. GIVE HOPE.: Provide Thanksgiving meal and more & 'Touch' same families in programs throughout the year
- CONTRIBUTIONS: Monetary donations ($) & Food product donations
- POSITIVE IMPACT: Improve holidays for families-in-need in Oklahoma & Partnerships increase impact
- COMMUNITY-CENTERED: Connecting families with the larger community
