PIT CAMP

Reaching Children Through Athletics & Academics

The #14 Foundation is honored to present our newest program: PIT (Performance Improvement Training) Camp - a program targeting five areas impacting high-risk, underprivileged youth: health, fitness, academic achievement, life choices, leadership and skill enhancement.  With our second year of camps about to begin we are excited about the opportunities the PIT Camp provides children in Oklahoma.

It is a rare privilege for so many needy children to receive such an incredible opportunity to grow. The young boys and girls who attend the camp gain more than three days of fun in the sun playing their favorite sport. They are challenged to raise the bar in other key areas of their lives. The athletes, coaches, teachers and volunteers set examples of respect and putting others first by supporting one another.

The children are taught the four principles of leadership, among other ‘life’ lessons, and focus on developing a well-rounded sense of self. The experience is far beyond a camp geared toward just athletic skill enhancement, it provides one-on-one mentoring and coaching in both athletics and academics. The PIT Camp is monumental in developing life skills that will be valuable to them throughout their lives.

Although these children may have access to other social programs, the PIT Camp is a unique program that interacts and connects with children on their level and through their interests. The PIT Camp provides the motivation to succeed, and Josh Heupel and the coaches, teachers and volunteers provide the encouragement and determination to help them make their dreams come true. This is the most valuable lesson a child can receive and hearing that message from successful athletes and coaches who were once in their shoes really makes it seem possible!
